Riverport District Fire Protection Commission
The Riverport District Fire Protection Act, which became law on May 3, 1958, was created to help residents in the communities of Rose Bay, Lower Rose Bay, Bayport, Indian Path, Feltzen South, Kingsburg, Upper Kingsburg, Riverport, Lower LaHave, East LaHave, and Middle LaHave North (up to Alexander Ross's lands at Bear Hills) to get their own fire protection. This law set up a special "District" for these specific communities, dedicated solely to providing fire safety services.
To manage fire protection, the Act established a group called the "Riverport District Fire Protection Commission," made up of six Commissioners. This Commission is an official body whose main job is to create, change, and remove any rules they believe are necessary for fire safety within their District. However, all these rules must first be approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs. This system provides a clear and organized way for residents to collectively manage and secure vital fire protection services.
